DNA Project: Cassa Ann Weeks Descendants

As I have noted in a previous post, I am researching the Weeks family that settled in Florida in the 1830s and 40s. I am researching each head of household in Alachua, Marion, Levy, and Lafayette Counties, just to name a few. Determining which men are brothers and which men are cousins is a daunting task. I have been working on this for years.

These households all seem to connect to two men born in North Carolina who settled in South Carolina before their families moved to Florida: Levi and Theophilus Weeks. These two men were likely related as their proposed progeny migrated to Florida and settled near each other and appear to have kept ties once in Florida.

As noted in the post referenced above, while researching the family of Archibald Weeks who was born in South Carolina and settled in Marion County, Florida, I was able to trace his daughter Cassy Weeks through documentary evidence. My next step would be to confirm this relationship using DNA evidence.

Cassy Weeks Sturges Munroe had two children: Martha Sturges and Nelson Sturges. I have not been successful in tracking Nelson Sturges past the 1880 United States Census. Martha Sturges married James J Bridges and they had one daughter before Martha died in 1874: Minnie Eliza Bridges. I have theorized that Minnie Eliza Bridges is the same woman who married Alfred Roland Brooks in 1891 in Bowling Green, Florida but again, I have not found documentary evidence of this yet.

If you are a descendant of Nelson Sturges, born about Dec 1860 in Marion County, Florida, or a descendant of Minnie Eliza Bridges Brooks (and her husband Alfred Roland Brooks) who died in Polk County, Florida in 1948 and you would like to participate in a DNA Study to confirm or deny the documentary evidence and the resulting theories, please reach out to me. I will do all the heavy lifting (i.e., the analyzing of the data) and I will simply keep you in the loop and provide you with a detailed report of my findings and investigation!

Please reach out to me on ancestry.com by sending me a message via my username: sunnisearchangel or send me an email at everydayadventuresingenealogy@gmail.com. I’ll be happy to walk you through the next steps. You must already have already had a DNA test taken through ancestry.com or be willing to take one to participate in this study.
